You have landed on Planet Zi, where giant robotic animals piloted by humans are everything.  Ready...fight!

If you haven't seen Zoids on Cartoon Network, be it Season One at 6 AM EST or Season Two at 4:30 PM EST, I'd say you're nuts.  This series, if promoted enough by Cartoon Network, could rival the MSG series they've been running in recent years, even the lowly DBZ (sorry, I used to be a fan until the good shows got kicked off).

In Season One, there is a war raging across the land.  The Republicans and the Empire are waging war over the disappearance of young Emperor Rudolph.  Somehow, a boy named Van Flyhite and his female companion Fiona get caught up in the mess, because Van has a Blade Liger that merges with a baby Organoid named Zeke.  After several attacks on their home village to get Zeke, Van and Fiona strike out on their own, battling the Republican ace Irvine and his female companion, Moonbey.  Soon the enemies join forces when things get even tougher for both sides.  The quartet find the missing emperor and get into more trouble while trying to return him to his home.

One year after the war, Van and Fiona are part of the Guardian Force, a peace-keeping faction working for the Empire and the Republicans.  Van, having defeated the Imperial ace Raven and his Deathsaur, gets to do pretty much what he wants; only Colonel Karl Schuboltz can give him orders, aside from Emperor Rudolph.

Season Two is set on Zi, about ten or so years after Season One, with some brand-new characters.  You'll meet Bit Cloud, Brad, Lena, Leon, and Dr. Tauros (Lena and Leon's father), Naomi Fleugel,  Harry Champ, and a host of baddies from the Backdraft organization.  There is no more war, only sanctioned Zoid Battles, where Zoid warriors put their pride and rank on the line to become the best ever.

Bit pilots the Liger Zero, a Zoid with an Organoid System in a black box that replaces the Zoid Core.  Such Zoids are one-of-a-kind; Liger Zero is known as an Ultimate X.  The Backdraft are so desperate to get an Ultimate X, they either try to steal the Liger Zero.  Later, they find the Beserk Fury, who is piloted by Vega, a little boy.

There is a third season that I know of, but it has yet to cross the pond.  Until then, catch Zoids, Seasons One and Two on Cartoon Network!

Can't go to Anipike.com...try Yahoo! Search or AltaVista or my brother's choice, Hasbro.com.  Good luck!
