I'm sure you said in 1999 that Digimon: Digital Monsters was a copy-cat's
version of the recent hit Pokemon. Right? Wrong! Digimon is actually the senior
here, about five years older than it's more popular counterpart. Digimon debuted in Japan in 1994 or 1995 and
Pokemon followed in 1998 or 1999. And while the little pocket monsters ran all over the Kids' WB block on UPN
in 1999/2000, the digital monsters didn't rule FOX Kid's until a few months after the inital Monster Invasion.
It's really no matter. Both are great for kids of all ages, even for those
who are "too old," like me. Both have had smash movies, though Pokemon has had three hits and an has an
upcoming forth. Both have a card game, and both have plastic figures all over Target and Toys R Us stores nationwide.
Digimon starts off at a summer camp, where we meet seven of the eight original
Digidestined: Tai, Sora, Joe, Izzy, Mimi, Matt, and Matt's little brother, TK. There is an eighth child, but she
doesn't show up until later.
OK, this is a summer camp, right? Would you believe that it starts snowing,
in the middle of July? Tai didn't believe it either until he and his friends saw snow drifts all over the place.
And if things couldn't get any weirder, little digital devices falll from the sky to their feet and float up until hands wrap
around them. Then, about a minute later, all seven kids get zapped from their world into another dimension.
Welcome to the Digital World, AKA the DigiWorld. Little monsters find the kids
and become their guardians, friends, and partners. Together, Tai, Matt, T.K., Sora, Izzy, Joe, and Mimi fight Devimon,
Etimon, Myotismon, Piedmon, Puppetmon, Mechinedramon, and MetalSeadramon with the help of their faithful companions, Agumon,
Gabumon, Patamon, Byomon, Tentomon, Gomamon, and Palmon.
When the kids go back to their world with their Digimon in tow to finish off Myotismon,
they find out that Kari, Tai's little sister is the eighth child and Gatomon, Myotismon's right-hand mon is her Digimon.
Myotismon wants to kill Kari, and he involves the whole city of Tokyo. Lickily, they win that battle...until Season
Two.
In the second season of Digimon, T.K. and Kari are back. But something
new has threatened the DigiWorld, something that brings pain and suffering by day and leaves at night. It takes the
help of newcomers Yolie, Cody and the knuckleheaded Davis to bring an end to the new reign of terror. Surprisingly,
it's a kid! Genius Ken Ichijoji is the first culprit, but it takes him a while to realize his crimes. To make
it worse, Ken was only being used. At first, he only fights with T.K., Kari and the gang to take his revenge, but after
he learns to trust again and make friends, he fights for those he loves.
The battle comes to the real world again. Cody's father was a policeman who dies in the line of
duty. But Mr. Owikawa, a friend of Cody's dad, has fallen into a darkness he can't escape until the very end of his
life. He created two Digimon with his DNA to do his dirty work. But he isn't the one behind this either.
It's Myotismon again, and it's at his hands does Mr. Owikawa die. This time, Myotismon is defeated and peace again returns
to both worlds.
Have you seen the third season yet? This time, the original Digidestined are
grown up, and they still have their Digimon. Kari is a teacher, and guess who her husband is...T.K.! Kari is newcomer
Takato's teacher. Takato has this obsession with the Digibattle card game, so great he draws a Digimon and with a Blue
Card, brings it to life. This is where we meet Guiomon.
Takato and Guiomon become best friends and make new friends, starting with Henry
and his Digimon, Terriermon. With even more time, they befriend Rika, an independent tomboy and her partner, Renomon.
When a bad Digimon enters the real world, the three go into battle and win.
This is where you have to go to another website, because I sleep in really late on
Saturdays. Don't worry, with my brother's help, this page will updated soon.
